CT High Schooler Fatally Stabbed

Everyone knows that prom is a right of passage, unfortunately, 16-year-old Maren Sanchez, will never know.

Sanchez is the victim of a stabbing that happened this morning at Jonathan Law High School in Milford, CT. Authorities were called to the school at 7:14 AM for an altercation between a 16 year old male student and a 16 year old female student.

Sanchez was found in a stairwell by faculty of the school with visible life threatening injuries around her neck. She was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The school was earlier on lockdown, but the school is safe and the students have been dismissed.

Superintendent Elizabeth Feser said that Sanchez was a vibrant young woman who was an athlete, a member of the National Honor Society and very well liked and popular.

Authorities have the 16-year-old suspect in custody and are looking into the stabbing being over a rejection for prom. The junior prom was scheduled for tonight, and has been cancelled.
