Back To The Future: The Ride has been gone from Universal
Studios Hollywood since September of 2007, making room for The Simpsons Ride.
However, the classic film might be returning to the park for it's 30th
anniversary next year!
Sadly, the 3D motion simulator movie ride won't be back, but a
new attraction might become quite the encounter! The new Back to the Future
ride would be an encounter on the new nighttime version of the very popular
Studio Tour and sources are saying that there would be a recreation of the
climactic scene when Marty returns in the DeLorean time machine...at the very
spot the scene was filmed!!!!!
Since the TV show that has been filming at Courthouse Square is
wrapping production, Universal is free to recreate the original Back to the
Future set. So far, the plan is that Universal would transform Courthouse
Square back to it's faux-1955 look and would serve as a drive by attraction
during the day!
However, at night, things get really cool. The tram cars would
stop at Courthouse Square for a four minute, pyro, lighting, sound effect stunt
show that would put Doc Brown on the top of the clock tower. Eventually, Marty
McFly's DeLorean will speed past and blast back to the future!
Universal has staged its Studio Tour encounters (Earthquake,
Jaws, King Kong) on purpose built sets to separate the actual production
facilities on the backlot itself. Typically, most shows are filmed in sound
stages, but productions have filmed on encounter sets, specifically Earthquake!
How cool would this be? I'm all for it and I so can't wait to
visit it!!
